1. What is the difference between an eye primer and an eye base?
Aren’t they the same thing? I think people just call them differently. Apparently bases can be colored, for example MAC Paint Pots work as eye primers but the colored ones are beautiful as single cream eyeshadows as well.
2. Any tips on applying falsies?
Don’t close your eyes, you’ll glue your lashes together. Use professional eyelash appliers, because you don’t want to poke your eye out, also they make applying falsies so much easier. Make sure lashes are cut to fit your eye, false lashes tend to be long and can make your eye look like its drooping down
3. Favorite brand of falsies?
Artemes & House of Lashes
4. How do you pick your shade of foundation?
Always check your veins, if they appear green, you should look for warmer foundations with yellow base, but if they are blue, you should look for colder shades with red undertones. MAC has good variations for each, simply look for NW range if you have olive skin, and NC tones for super light, rose skin like mine. You need to put it on your jawline and match it to your neck, because there’s nothing worse than a face that’s colored differently from your neck.
5. What’s a good foundation for oily skin?
Foundation has a lot to do with personal preference. I would start off with something oil-free with a matte finish like NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation or Chanel Perfection Lumiere Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Foundation.
6. What’s a good foundation for dry skin?
I would start off with something a little more moisturizing or use a moisturizing primer. Look out for hydrating foundations like Smashbox Studio Skin 15-hour Hydrating Foundation. I’d strongly recommend to invest in a moisturising elixir or oil for face, Nuxe Paris Dry Oil is a lifesaver, it smells gorgeous and gives skin a lovely glow whilst hydrating and repairing skin cells. It’s my absolute personal favorite!
7.What’s a good foundation for normal skin?
Again, personal preference. Depends whether you like light- , medium- or high coverage, depends on the type of your skin and many other things. My favorite is the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundation but that’s just me.
8. Tinted Moisturizer, BB Cream, or Foundation?
I like BB cream for when I just go to Uni or daytime in general, I’m not a fan of caked face so I prefer to use as little product as possible. Foundation is better if you are doing a full face of makeup, for example for going out, because a BB cream wouldn’t compliment a bolder eye- or a lip look. Even if I use foundation though, I like it to blend in my skin and still make it dewy so I always use MAC Strobe Cream underneath my foundation.
9. What is a BB Cream?
BB stands for beauty balm. It gives a light coverage, evens out your skintone, and has SPF. It also has a very natural, sometimes glowy finish.
10. What do you use to apply foundation with?
I use my Morphe M439 Deluxe Buffer to apply foundation evenly to my face and then I like to use my Real Techniques beautyblender to go over areas that need more coverage.
11. How can I make my nose look slimmer or straighter?
You need to slightly contour your nose, blend it very well and apply a little bit of highlighter or a strobe powder on the tip of the nose or on the bridge of the nose if you want a more dramatic effect. Since I’m not a big fan of contouring, I just apply a light concealer on the bridge of my nose and use a little bit of highlighter on the tip of my nose.
12. Cream, Powder, or Liquid Blush?
I prefer powder in general, but I do use cream blush when I’m not wearing any foundation. For example in summer when my face is full of freckles and there’s no need for foundation whatsoever, I use cream blusher to apply on my cheeks and lips as well.
13. What is your weekly skin care routine?
I use La Roche Posay Effaclar face wash, toner and Duo+ in the morning and in the evening. I use Nuxe Dry Oil to moisturise my skin in the morning before applying make-up. I scrub my face with a home made coffee scrub once a week and sometimes I like to use Korean face masks just for fun. Oh I’m also a big fan of Turbliss face mask!
14. How do you prep your face for makeup?
It completely depends. Some mornings I use my Nuxe Dry Oil to prep the skin for a BB-cream. I use YSL Touche Eclat Primer underneath my foundation and I use MAC Strobe Cream for more of a natural make-up look. Sometimes I like to use my Tarte Rainforest of the Sea moisturising spray underneath and on top of my make-up to make it super dewy. To be fair, it changes all the time, depending on my mood and depending on a day.
15. How do you take off your makeup?
I use my LUMI make-up removal cream. Then I wash my face with La Roche Posay face wash using my Foreo Luna Mini.
16. What are some DIY face masks?
Uhmm, I don’t do much DIY facemasks, I remember trying honey, cinnamon and apple cider but it was such a mess so I never tried again. Actually no, I’m lying, I did use porridge oats and yoghurt a while ago to get rid of blemishes.
17. What are some inexpensive makeup brushes?
E.L.F. Cosmetics, EcoTools and Morphe Brush Sets
18. Do you prefer matte or shimmer eyeshadows?
I like both. I use mattes much more than shimmery ones because I don’t think shimmery eyeshadows are suitable for a daytime natural make-up. I play with both though, for going out I usually create a halo eye with mattes and then make it pop with a cool pigment or a shimmery shadow in the center.
19. If you only had $50 dollars for makeup, what would you buy?
Yeah that would never ever work.
20. Who is your favorite beauty guru on youtube?
Jeffree Star
21. How long do you take to get ready in the morning?
I literally take no time at all. I’m so used to doing a natural make-up look that it actually takes me less time than my boyfriend does to get ready.
22. What online makeup store is your favorite?
Every online make-up store is my favorite. God help me!
23. Who are your favorite beauty blogs on tumblr?
I don’t know, I don’t really go to Tumblr.
24. How long should you keep a product?
Some of the products have a sticker on it saying 6M, 12M etc. meaning shelf life in months. It depends on a product though, if you google it then you can get a clear idea of how long your foundation or eyeshadow palette is good for.
25. What product are you hoping to buy next?
There’s way too many. Kat von D Alchemist palette, Pat McGrath Skin Fetish, Tarte Make Belief in Yourself Eyeshadow Palette, Buxom Lip Collection, MILK Cosmetics Sticks etc. I’ll just stop right here for your own good.
